Art as a Form of Spiritual Expression

By: Vivianne LaRiviere

Discover your true nature. Often we are faced with tough life questions. Who am I? What Do I Value? What are my challenges? What is my purpose?  Who do I wish to become? Art and Spiritual Dialogue are fascinating and beautiful ways into the answers, into the wordless places.

This workshop is specifically designed to help with self-discovery, and in turn can offer the opportunity for a level of healing to occur, as we move to deeper places within ourselves. The participants will be introduced to the type of work that Vivianne does in her practice, including focused meditation, collective dialogue, and a wide variety of art including poetry, writing, collage, painting, singing and drumming as a way into the places you need to go when wishing to discover deeper meaning.

As a Spiritual Arts Practitioner and founder of The Song Room, Vivianne helps people who are experiencing a drive for spirituality and perhaps a place to heal, find a path for growth. LaRiviere, a panentheist, draws on her Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies, and is engaged in the process of becoming an interfaith minister. In addition, LaRiviere is involved with Shamanic studies, celebrates the teachings of her Indigenous ancestors, is a licensed Reiki master, and a devoted multi-media artist. Read Full Bio

Circle of Friends: Building a community in a disconnected world

By: Judy Nagy

When crisis arises, who does one turn to? Usually  family. But for many of us, family is spread out, or unavailable or  unable to help. In Hudson and St. Lazare, Quebec, a crisis for one family, triggered the generosity of many. A wife and two children lost a husband and father to cancer but in return helped spark a movement that brought compassion, love and joy to neighbors in crisis.

Circle of Friends uses modern technology and business tools to create opportunities for the community to come together and help when a family is in crisis. News about a family in trouble (and their immediate needs) is shot out in an email, posted on Facebook and discussed on blogs. The community is given a “mission” to help, whether in the form of home made meals, emergency childcare, a ride to a hospital or a compassionate shoulder to cry on. In our workshop we will explore the history of the Circle of Friends, celebrate its mission and create a work that defines who we are – a community that cares.

In addition to being a writer, Judy has 18 years of experience in design and communications, marketing operations and project management. She believes deeply in the power of community and has leveraged the goodness of people to found Circle of Friends and Friends of Dunes Lake. Read Full Bio

Humanity 4.0 – The Patterns of Thriving Living Systems

By: Michelle Holliday

There is one simple pattern that all living systems follow – living systems like rainforests and coral reefs… and you, and organizations, and economies, and even all of humanity.  As we understand this pattern, it changes what it means to be human, and alive, and at work in the world.

In this workshop, Michelle Holliday will explain the pattern of all living systems. She will highlight the important clues this pattern offers about the emerging era of humanity.  And she will help you understand the significant implications for your own life.

Michelle has 20 years’ experience in business strategy, with particular expertise in authentic marketing. She founded her company, Cambium Consulting, after observing that the predominant organizational concepts and ways of working are neither optimal nor sustainable. And she is driven by the desire to help usher in an expanded set of beliefs and practices based on a view of organizations as living systems. Read Full Bio
